Good Causes
Join as a non-profit or public-based organisation to raise funds for your organisation.
Vetting
Good Causes must always be legally registered organisations. A lax approach has given rise to organisations whose intent is not to uplift society, but only themselves. In order to ensure GRG does not aid such organisations, we thoroughly vet all groups that apply, making sure that GRG only aids in true goodness.
Registration & Compliance
By law, every Good Cause must be registered with the National Lotteries Commission of South Africa (NLCSA). This registration is triggered when submitting your first raffle. If you are not yet registered, GRG will assist you through the process to ensure it is completed smoothly.
All raffles and fundraising activities must comply with the NLCSA and the Lotteries Act. We’re here to guide you step by step, making sure everything is fully compliant and handled with care.
Lobbying
To make the most of what GRG offers, Good Causes should rally local businesses for pledges and encourage players to get involved on their behalf. While GRG will continue spreading general awareness of all raffles, we cannot give preference to any single cause, our role is to serve social development as a whole. This ensures fairness across the board, while making each raffle’s success a reflection of the Good Cause’s own commitment to sharing and promoting it.
Posting Stories
GRG was partially informed by the lack of visibility non-profit and public organisations produce, or are able to produce. Part of the difficulty in raising funds is gaining trust from those who are asked. The only way that trust is properly achieved is if the donor is able to see what they’re contributing to. Good Causes are encouraged to consistently update their profile by adding accounts and updates on their projects’ progress.
Targets
Good Causes are encouraged to create targets. A target is simply an amount of money the Good Cause is looking to raise for a specific project — for example, building a classroom or purchasing equipment. By law, funds cannot be raised for the organisation in general, but only for defined projects. Each Good Cause can only have one target at any time. Targets enhance transparency, which in turn increases the likelihood of support. The nature of the target is entirely dependent on the Good Cause; however, because it directly illustrates how the funds will be used, it is a sensitive matter and cannot be changed or altered once submitted. If an issue arises, a detailed email must be sent to GRG requesting removal or changes.
Here to Help
The journey to GRG has been shaped by seeing how much more can be done to support social development. We’re here to be part of that progress, and we want to travel this journey together with you. Building strong, lasting relationships is central to what we do, and an important part of that is truly getting to know you and earning your trust.
